Yue ling was a struggling actress in 1988. She was 'discovered' at age 20, and became an actress-model . She got her first break in a movie called "Qiu2 Cheng2", which also starred Andy Lau. Yue ling was voted one of the TOP 20 FOREIGN TELEVISION ACTORS in a Singapore teen weekly's ANNUAL POLL in 1996. She was also voted the IDOL OF THE WEEK, beating contenders like Zhou Huajian in another teen poll in 1996, following the screening of the serial "gui3 zhang4 fu1". That serial plucked her out of obscurity in Malaysia and Singapore. Strangely enough, she was dubbed a Lin Fengjiao look-alike (Lin2 Feng4 Jiao1 Er4 Hao4). However, she only made it in Taiwan, after the hit Qiong2 Yao2 serial "Qing1 Qing1 He2 Bian1 Cao3" in 1992-1993, despite acting in a string of movies. Yue Ling's notable serials: 3 Taiwanese QIONG YAO TV serials, 1 Singapore-taiwan serial, and 3 other 1997 productions. - 1."QING1 QING1 HE2 BIAN1 CAO3" (1993; where she acted as QingQing with Ma2 Jing3 Tao1 and a China-born actress who played Xiao Cao). This was the role that earned her immense popularity.

- 3. "Liang3 Ge4 Yong3 Hen2 Zhi1" (Princess XinYue, 1995, as Princess Xin1Yue4).
- 4. "Tian1 Shi1 Zhong1 Kui2" (HEAVENLY GHOSTCATCHER, 1995). It is a SINGAPORE-TAIWAN production.
- 5. Hua1 Luo4 Hua1 Kai1 ( where she was nominated for best actress in 1997).
