Taiwan gang film wins top Chinese-language prize

TAIPEI - Hong Kong movies took the spotlight at the Chinese-language version of the Oscars in Taiwan on Saturday, but the only movie nominated from Taiwan for best picture won that trophy."The Best of Times," a story about two young gang members by Taiwan director Chang Tso-chi, won the best feature film award at the Golden Horse ceremony, which showcases films from Taiwan and Hong Kong. Fruit Chan won best director for "Hollywood Hong Kong," about a Chinese prostitute in a Hong Kong shantytown. The best actress title went to Lee Sin-je for her lead role in "The Eye," a horror movie. Hong Kong's Leon Lai was best actor for a plainclothes police detective who has cannot get over the death of his wife in "Three-Going Home."
