HONG KONG - Hong Kong actor-singer Leon Lai says he's in awe of Tsui Hark after filming the upcoming martial arts film ``Seven Swords'' with the famed director.``Now I know what it's like to be fully passionate, have energy and be really serious in making a movie,'' Lai told reporters Monday. Lai praised Tsui's skill in steering a film with multiple characters. ``When there are so many characters, the leader is important,'' Lai said. ``He did a good job of taking care of our spirits and other aspects.'' ``Seven Swords'' is about seven kung fu masters who try to evade a ban on martial arts in ancient China. It was filmed in the remote western Chinese province of Xingjiang. The picture also stars Donnie Yen and South Korean actress Kim So-yeun. Tsui, dubbed the ``Steven Spielberg of Asia,'' is a versatile director whose work has ranged from comedy to martial arts. He is known to be an exacting filmmaker. Lai recalled that Tsui asked the cast to walk with their swords up a mountain instead of riding in a car. ``He'd say, you can only do a good job if you get used to living in this environment,'' Lai said. ``He's keen on putting himself completely in the world of the movie,'' he said.
