2005-11-01
MACAU - China's Guo Jingjing won her second gold medal of the East Asian Games on Tuesday, teaming up with Li Ting to easily win the women's 3-meter synchronized diving event.Guo and Li led after all five rounds at the Macau Olympic Aquatic Center and finished with 337.20 points. The Japanese duo of Misako Yamashita and Ryoko Nishii were second with 282.24 points while Taiwanese divers Lu En-tien and Lu Hsin finished third with 258.24 points. It was another easy win for the 24-year-old Guo, who is a huge celebrity in China. ``I was very relaxed and didn't feel any pressure,'' said Guo, who won the 1-meter springboard on Sunday. ``I was almost so relaxed that it was difficult to stay focused.'' While the result was never really in doubt, Guo and Li executed a superb forward 2-1/2 twist pike in their next-to-last dive that brought a huge ovation from the crowd. Double Olympic champion Guo said she won't have time to celebrate her two gold medals here and will return to Beijing on Wednesday. ``I won't be going out partying tonight,'' said Guo. ``We have strict rules and regulations and I have to keep to a very tight schedule.'' China has won eight of a possible nine gold medals in diving so far. Earlier Tuesday, Jiang Lishuang won the women's 10-meter platform while Xu Hao and Chen Jiaming took top honors in the men's 3-meter synchronized springboard.
