TVB Enlists Stars for 60 Episode Serial

Hong Kong - TVB's heavy-hitting, 60-episode long serial will begin shooting in July. After months of planning TVB has released its initial cast list.The list includes the film star who has been in retirement for 30 years Shuet Nei, and Kenneth Tseng Kong who will play a couple, Felix Wong Yut Wa, Gallen Law Ka Leung, Lam Ka Tung, and Cheung Ka Fai and "5 divas" -- Kathy Chow Hoi Mei, Amy Kwok Oi Ming, Jessica Hester (Suen Hsuen), Ada Choi Siu Fun and Marianne Chan Miu Ying are also on the list. Reportedly TVB is interested in matching 5 stars with 5 divas. Originally TVB was extremely interested in Julian Cheung Chi Lam due to his performance in Cold Blood Warm Heart (Tin Dei Nam Yi) last year, but he will spend his second half of the year making movies and can't adjust his schedule, so both sides are still in negotiation. On the other hand TVB also once asked Carol "Do Do" Cheng Yiu Ling and Simon Yam Tat Wa to help out, but Cheng Yiu Ling feared the difficulty of a long serial and turned down the role early on, and Yam Tat Wa also turned the role down due to schedule conflicts. Wa Jai said, "TVB did ask me to make the 60 episode series. Our relationship has always been good. Last time they asked me to do Once Upon A Time in Shanghai (Sun Shanghai Tan), but I didn't have time. This time they asked me to play a cop, unfortunately from June to September I am completely booked, so I couldn't do it." When Kenneth Tseng Kong signed with TVB, he mainly signed for the 60 episode series, but A Kindred Spirit (Jung Ching) got first dibs. Tseng Kong had more and more fun as work for the show went on, so Tseng Kong has asked to turn down the long serial to continue making A Kindred Spirit, but TVB didn't approve the request.
