1998-07-21
Hong Kong - The "Storm Riders" has grossed the highest first-day box-office take in the history of Hong Kong cinema, beating Hollywood blockbuster such as Jurassic Park: Lost World and Titanic. The film, starring singers Aaron Kwok and Ekin Cheng, was released last Saturday and immediately grossed a record-breaking $4.6 million. Both Kwok and Cheng had been promoting the film during the weekend in Malaysia and were greeted by many fans. It seems that the two stars will successfully ride the storm created by the film which is sweeping across the region. [HK Standard]
