Bosh bashes Bucks as Raptors stretch home win streak
2008-01-26
Chris Bosh erased the memory of his worst effort of the season by producing one of his best as the Toronto Raptors pounded the Milwaukee Bucks 106-75 on Friday, stretching their home winning streak to a season-high five games. Bosh, held to a season-low single point in a loss to the Bucks in their only other meeting this season, displayed his All-Star qualities with 32 points and seven rebounds to help the Raptors earn their seventh win in nine contests. "I don't get too hard on myself, I just put that stuff behind me," Bosh, who has averaged 31.4 points over the five-game home win streak, told reporters. "I didn't worry too much about it (one point game), that was earlier in the season, that was a different me, a different team back then. "I just wanted to play my game, I didn't want to get too caught up in that because I would have been forcing stuff and shooting bad shots and I didn't want to do that today." Andrea Bargnani and Anthony Parker each had 13 points while Jose Calderon continued to make a strong pitch for a place in the NBA All-Star game by chipping in with a double-double -- 11 points and 12 assists. Riding the momentum from a win over the league leading Boston Celtics on Wednesday, the Raptors battled to a 23-20 first quarter lead, Bosh pouring in 10 points. Carlos Delfino got hot in the second quarter, draining 11 of his 18 points to give the home side a 47-42 advantage heading into the intermission. The Raptors blew the game open in the third quarter with a 19-to-0 run, outscoring the Bucks 32-11 to take command 79-53 then coasted to the comfortable 31-point win. The struggling Bucks saw just three players reach double figures with Michael Redd and former-Raptor Charlie Villanueva scoring 12. Australia's Andrew Bogut had eight in a losing cause while China's Yi Jianlian finished with six points. (Editing by Peter Rutherford)
